The pollution has grown to such levels in Beijing that the Chinese government has informed the world they will hold the entire 2008 Olympics indoors!

Ok. Not the truth. But it’s getting to the point where that might be one solution, although others are in place…

It seems the Communist government’s plan to seed clouds and manufacture rain, there-by washing the pollution of the air and messing with Mother Nature may be working. This past week violent thunderstorms and hail inexplicably flowed through the city just before it’s grand ceremonies were to take place at Tiananmen Square to preview next year’s games. Officials won’t confirm cloud manipulation this past week.

As the Games facilities begin to take shape, such as Chinese Totalitarian Water Cube that houses the swimming events (photo above), officials have been scrambling to add mass-transit, close toxic factories, and produce energy via alternative sources to make for a cleaner Beijing in the summer of 2008.

The city has added 4,000 buses that run on natural gas, are building four new subway lines, planted 28 million trees, are upgrading five coal-fired power plants to reduce emissions. This in an effort to get a pollution index below a 500 level, which dwarfs the 300 maximum reading ever seen in the U.S., and assure the rest of the world they won’t be asfixiated by the toxins next summer.
