Shawne Merriman will not be performing his “Lights Out” dance after sacks this year. In an effort to get the SD Chargers over the hump this year — God willing they do — Merriman has decided to tone down his act for the greater good.
“I’ll do it one day again,” Merriman said. “Right now, I feel we’re trying to build something here. When I feel like we’ve got it all together maybe I’ll do it again. I’m never going to escape Lights Out. It’s just who I am, whether people like it or not. Some people say they love it, it’s entertaining, it gets us pumped up.
“Some people who have been around the game a long time say it’s immature, you shouldn’t do it. That’s their opinion. I’m Shawne Merriman. I’m going to act the way I act. But right now I feel like it’s important for me to help pull this thing together. Then I can go back to being myself. [SOURCE]
Wait a second, Shawne. The sack-dance doesn’t make or not make a football team. Maturity is not giving a fuck…doing your thang to hype the crowd or shove it in the opponents face! As a Qualcomm patron I vote ‘Do it’! It’s as football as apple pie….um….I mean, as LT not doing a touchdown dance.
