You may remember when Dennis Rodman’s publicists put out a press release announcing his intent to find an WNBA team to coach. Well, with a new team in Atlanta starting play next summer, Rodman is interested in trying to get in the door there….
“I love the city of Atlanta,” Rodman told the paper through a spokesman. “Atlanta would be the ideal situation, starting from scratch.”
But, it seems ownership wants coaching experience over cross-dressing/ecstasy-ingesting experience,
“My own view is that I don’t think he’s currently qualified to be a head coach,” (Atlanta Owner) Terwilliger said. “We need someone who knows the league, knows how it works, knows the players and knows the college talent coming up. And we’d prefer to have a women’s coach since it’s a women’s league.” [LINK TO STORY]
Well that sucks. Dennis is a perfectly qualified applicant, has played professional basketball, been around the sport for many years, and has a somewhat high basketball I.Q. I don’t see the issue…..Oh….the whole “having to be a woman” thing? Well, still don’t see an issue with that either….we are talking Dennis Rodman here. Have nylons, wigs, and dresses ever stopped this guy? Granted, mastering X’s and O’s on the basketball court might be a whole lot different than mastering X’s on the chromosome court.
