Embattled pot smoker, and sometimes pro football player, Ricky Williams has been informed by the Miami Dolphins that he will be asked to return to the team in 2008.
New Executive Vice President Bill Parcells has been very busy his first few days in Miami, first canning Cam Cameron, and now renewing the contract of the upstanding citizen Williams. From the Miami Herald,
According to the report, the troubled running back’s agent wrote an e-mail to the newspaper indicating that Williams has received a letter from newly-hired Dolphins executive vice president Bill Parcells informing him of the decision.
Leigh Steinberg also wrote that Williams is doing well in his rehabilitation from a torn pectoral muscle, which ended his 2007 season. [link]
Hmm…interesting. Just hours before, new GM Jeff Ireland had this tidbit to say about the Cameron firing,
“We want to build a culture around here. We’re going to try to put a culture in place that shares the same opinions we do,” Ireland said. “We want strong character around here. We want passionate football players. We like prototypical size football players. Those are simple things. You’ll see the differences. You’ll see what our philosophy is.” [link]
Marijuana = Character? Hmm? I really gotta get a handle on this new world order thing. I’m assuming that’s what were dealing with here…..right?….or did Florida just secede from the Union? And if so, does that mean I can move down there and finally marry that foxy cousin of mine?
