Some whale of a dude who used to be the fattest man in the world — we’ll just call him “The Dude Formerly Known As The Fattest Man in the World” (DFKFMW) — is getting married. He vows to love, honor, cherish, not consume his bride, and to stand-up for his own wedding ceremony. Yes…that’s right….stand up!
Manuel Uribe lives in Monterrey, Mexico and just passed his 43rd birthday weighing in at 685 pounds. Mind you, this is after he’s already dropped 550 pounds to get down to his slim, lovable, attractive, sit-up-in-bed weight. Yup…he used to weigh a Guinness record 1235 pounds before he went on his two year, steady diet. Now his goal is to be able to stand for his own wedding…
“It frustrates me a little, because it is not easy to get out,” said Uribe, who has not been able to leave bed for the last six years.
His most recent attempt to escape the house — to attend Solis’ 38th birthday party in March — fell through when a flatbed tow truck brought to transport his reinforced bed got caught beneath an underpass.
But Uribe vowed not to be deterred: “We are in love, and this year my birthday wish is to be able to stand when we get married,” he said.
Uribe said he met Solis, a 38-year-old hairdresser, four years ago. They have been together for the last two.
“We are a couple,” Uribe said. “We have sex, and in the eyes of God we are already married.” [Story]
And my wife harps on me to get off the couch! Damn. See Hon. See. My svelte 220 pounds can handle carne asada fries and couch time on Sunday! Think about how good you got it! I can actually sit up off the couch after my fries. Sometimes I even stand-up by Monday morning and go to work. Hon, don’t you ever forget how lucky you are!
