BARRY BONDS FROM SKINNY KID TO MUSCLE MAN

Barry Bonds is threatening to boycott the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY if his home- run record baseball #756 is inducted before him with the much hyped asterisk.   Fashion designer Marc Ecko bought the ball in an online auction, and based on fan input, it was decided to send the ball to Cooperstown with an asterisk.

”I won’t go. I won’t be part of it,” Bonds said in an interview with MSNBC that aired last night. “You can call me, but I won’t be there.”

“I don’t think you can put an asterisk in the game of baseball, and I don’t think that the Hall of Fame can accept an asterisk,” said Bonds, who called Ecko “an idiot.”

“You cannot give people the freedom, the right to alter history,” Bonds said. “You can’t do it. There’s no such thing as an asterisk in baseball.”

Bonds also said he won’t talk to George Mitchell’s staff looking into steroids use in baseball while he is under investigation in the BALCO case.  [LINK TO STORY]

Ahhhh.  Bbbbaarrrryyyy Waaarrrry…..I’m soooo sorry you’re upset by this!   I know, I know….deep breaths.  Thoughts of puppy dogs, clean white sand beaches with no hypodermic needles washing ashore, and remembering how frickin’ cool you are will get you through all of this madness.   The public and media can be cruel….we can callously read into the fact that you hit 298 home-runs past the age of 37 and that you weigh sixty lbs. more than when you came up to the big leagues in 1986 and make it into this nebulous ’steroid thang’.

But do I read into it?  Nah.  You’re the greatest!  Ali who?  Please.  You’re Barry Bonds!  We all betta recognize!

Whew!  Man.  What a ride.  Sigh.  Finally the unbreakable of unbreakable records has finally been surpassed. I never thought in my life time….

Bobby Cox has broken the all-time MLB ejection record, by getting thrown Tuesday night for the 132nd time in his managerial career — against none-other-than the SF Bondsesss.  This from the Atlanta Constitution:

Cox was thrown for arguing from the dugout after Chipper Jones took a called third strike to end the fifth inning of the Braves’ 5-4 win against San Francisco.

As usual, Cox declined to discussed the ejection, other than saying he thought the pitch to Jones was inside and wasn’t the only questionable strike called against the veteran third baseman.

“It’s absolutely no factor,” Cox said of the record he broke, a 74-year-old mark Cox had shared with Hall of Fame manager John McGraw since June 23. “Means nothing. Just been around a long time, that’s all.” [SOURCE]

Man. That was a long spell from June 23rd.  I’ve been on pins and needles. Bud Selig was NOT in attendance because he’s senile, deaf, and couldn’t comprehend anyway.  John McCraw declined to attend because he is dead, although he taped a message for Bobby.

All-Time Leader in MLB Home Runs - Barry Bonds 801*?

Now that Barry Bonds has punctured threw the impossible 755 second-place home run barrier set by Hank Aaron, he has only one last major hurdle to pass.  The really really untouchable record of 800 home runs that everyone pre-destines Alex Rodriguez to make — in the Year 2014 or so? — is next…

bonds30806.jpg

Bonds apparently is on his way after cracking number 757 on Wednesday night into the depths of McCovey Cove.   It’s a far-gone conclusion at this point that A-Rod’s magic number will be 800 and will be the mark in the future to surpass.  But, who would doubt that Barry can’t ramp up his production over the next two years as a DH in the American League to get to the magic 801* number?

And my question to all, after Bonds elicpses Rodriguez’s record of 800, will the asterisk still remain for Bonds even at 801*?  811*?  821*?  The man is not done, people.   Regardless of the speculation on whether Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder, or obviously Alex Rodriguez attaining a certain number, will Barry Bonds and the asterisk ever be inseparable, regardless of the number

Michael Vick has f’ed it up for all athletes.   First it was the canine suicide missions at the Tour De U.S. Territory France (#1 and #2), then it was celebrity animals raising up against Vick, and now it’s an all-out war against any reference or image of an athlete.   Canines are straight pissed.   Now Barry Bonds endures the wrath.
