With open arms, the New England Patriots welcomed the newly acquired Randy Moss to their football squad in 2007. For a 4th round draft pick this past weekend, the Patriots were able to pull Moss away from the inept Oakland Raiders and have given quarterback Tom Brady a potent down field weapon for the coming season.
Moss’ stay in Oakland was shrouded by controversy and contempt for the Raiders management, which much of the trouble stemmed from his use of marijuana and continued troubles with the law.To counter this trouble, the city of Boston gave Moss a “bong to the city” in a downtown ceremony to welcome the receiver.
New England coach Bill Belichik explained, “The guy has put up terrific numbers his entire career in Minnestoa. Once in Oakland, for whatever reason, they took the weapon out of his hands. No, not the football, but his bong. We’re embracing his weed smoking habit and hope that he can bring some of his Northern Californian connections to New England.”
